You find the most inspiring balloon ideas in the oddest places.  This draped balloon strand decoration was done as the backdrop for a concert but I love the curving, draped effect of the balloon strand.

To imitate this look, even to a smaller degree, copy the directions for a making a balloon arch on a string, but without the helium. Using 12″ balloons inflated about 2/3rds, figure you’ll need about two layers of balloons for foot of string.

Use three colors (blue, gold, and white in this example), stacking three layers of balloons for each section.  Attach the balloon strand to a wall or support of some sort in three places, leaving some play in the strand to get the draping effect.

You could do this on a smaller scale for a child’s birthday party or behind the head table at an anniversary party.  Use colors that coordinate with your event.

Notice, too, that they’ve attached Mylar star balloons in a few spots of the strand.  Imagine a pink and white strand with pink butterfly Mylar balloons for a little girls party!

I swear, I don’t know why it’s easier to come up with ideas for girls than it is for boys – especially since I have all boys – it just is!  Okay, for boys, how about black, white, and red balloons with checkered flags instead of streamers and Mylar race cars instead of stars?  Phew.
