When I came across these, I have to tell you I was a bit stumped. I actually took a little trip in the way-back machine and had to call my little sis to see if I was perhaps dreaming. Didn’t she and I play with Strawberry Shortcake when we were kids?  Like 30 years ago?! I have all boys but she has one, precocious princess (my adorable niece – actually, I have four absolutely, adorable nieces!) and she said yes AND yes, she’s back.

Strawberry Shortcake had her start in the late ’70s and made several comebacks including most recently in 2006. And girls adore her sweet style, her bright pink ensemble, and her infamous giggle. She’s sweet and wholesome and a great choice for a birthday party theme for little girls.

If you’re looking to make decorating a Strawberry Shortcake party as easy as possible, yet still special and unique, use a party decorations kit as the foundation of your party and round it out with a few, easy balloon decorations.

Strawberry Shortcake Party SuppliesA Strawberry Shortcake birthday decoration kit comes with all you need for a party of eight. It includes plates, cups, napkins, a tablecover, a strawberry pinata, balloons, streamers – the works!

This makes the basic setup as easy as possible, especially if you’re hosting the party at a place other than your home.  Just take the box with you when you’re ready and you can set up quickly.  Hint – don’t forget that you have to fill the pinata but the kit comes with a large bag of candy and toys pre-mixed so all you’ll have to do is put them in the pinata.  (Let’s not remind my mother about the time she forgot to put the candy in a pinata for one of our birthday parties….)

Personalized Strawberry Shortcake BalloonNext, follow the instructions for a balloon flower column but use pink, white, and green balloons to match the Strawberry Shortcake party theme and top them with a personalized Strawberry Shortcake birthday balloon.

If you want to go all out, make two helium balloon arches in matching colors of pink, white, and green and have them cross over the party area to form a sort of canopy over everyone. Give little treat bags of Strawberry Shortcake items or pink and white party favors. And I almost forgot – there’s even a Strawberry Shortcake fan site with some neat Strawberry Shortcake coloring pages and a few paper puppets that might also work as place cards for your party guests.

Don’t forget a Strawberry Shortcake birthday cake to go with the rest of your decorations. You can still find these designs at most grocery stores or see this Strawberry Shortcake Cake Topper Set for the finishing touch.
